Social network marketing is a way to describe how network marketers are using social media to promote their businesses. Social media really exploded onto the scene in the early to mid naughties. Friendster, Myspace and then Facebook were all launched during this period. The use of social networking sites has changed the way we communicate with each other. It is now normal for people on opposite sides of the world to communicate live via their mobile device or laptop. It is also a great platform for people to communicate to hundreds or even thousands of people at the same time. Network Marketing is one industry that has benefited greatly from this.

Social network marketing is a great way to build relationships and trust with your target market. These type of sites were built for people to meet new people and re-connect with old friends, not as a place to sell and advertise, it is important to remember this. You have to be clever at how you lead your connections on these social sites down the path of becoming your customer/team member. Some top tips on using social media to drive your mlm business forward are:

  • Know your Niche, does what you have to offer solve a problem?
  • Connect with people who are talking about the problem your product or service can solve.
  • Provide valuable information to your target audience, that help with their problem.
  • Lead them to a place (website, blog) where they can subscribe to your ezine/newsletter
  • Keep providing valuable content.

So how do you find people to connect with who are in your niche?

  • On Facebook, Myspace or Linkedin you can search for groups that belong to your specific niche and join them. Connect and make friends with the other group members. Share knowledge and experience with memebers within these groups.
  • Start your own group and invite people to join. make sure that your group represents your niche.
  • Twitter, You can use the twitter search function to find people in your niche and follow them. # tagging is a great way to search for specific words other people on Twitter are using that links to your niche, examples of this are #mlm, #networkmarketing
  • Providing valuable content/information is very important to build relationships and trust. Your connections and followers will view you as a trusted source for knowledge and information that they are looking for.
  • Leading people to a place where they can opt-in to hear from you more is the most important thing when you want to generate leads using social media. Providing a link on your updates is a great way to achieve this.
  • Continue to feed them with valuable content and let them know how they can connect with you by providing your contact details such as business e-mail address, phone number, skype id and so on.

The whole point of starting to use social network marketing is to build an audience of people, these people eventually become your customers/team members in your mlm business. These people see you as a valuable source of information and an expert in the field and also trust and value what you have to say. This is one way of creating your own network marketing leads, and best of all it is free.
